+Gulab Jamun..;)

We started The New Year with an absolute melt-in-the mouth Indian Delicacy " Gulab Jamun"..;)...Hope the whole year gives us sweet news and joy all thru..Anushka & AJ seem to be in love with Gulab Jamun's...the first time i did it i made it this way,i came across this awesome recipe from Sailu's Blog(A fellow blogger),but i had a bit of my own adjustments made to suit our tastebuds..). But when my lil one doesn't give me enough time i just go for the other option "MTR" my favourite and most reliable brand in making gr8 Gulab Jamun's..;) Okay...That's one fact the second fact being that i can fastforward the whole process...and the final fact being that sometimes even i am short of time and most importantly patience...like i am today, believe it or not i've been typing this post for the past whole week...;( sorry guys..i really wish i could really really write the whole in and out of loads of "gup-shup" but seriously... m...

"No Fuss - Rice Cups" aka " Phare"

Steamed Rice Cups..;) Yet another day.....yet another worry....the biggest of all worries being "What will me toddler eat without any fuss today...??" Yes the stress is on the word "FUSS"...terrifying almost every mother on the face of this planet...is one lil 4 letter word.."FUSS"...!!! This was just another day where i was racking my brains on what to feed her...she'd been sick for the past few days...and as we all know it's terrible to even attempt to wander around a sick child....& if your talking about food...gawd help you....!! Well this is one simple recipe which i've eaten in years at my place...easy, simple and yummy for kids...;) Rice Cups or Phare Recipe: What goes in: Rice Flour - 1 Cup. Jeera - 1 Tsp. Pepper - Coarsely ground - 1/2 Tsp. Fresh Grated Coconut - 1 or 2 Tbsp. Oil/Ghee - 1 Tsp. Salt - To Taste. How to Put it in together: Take about 1/2 Cup of water and bring to boil, now reduce the flame to Si...

100% Low-Fat Walnut & Oatmeal Brownie's..;)

Walnut Brownies have been my "Fav" since College...we'd get real yummy walnut brownies, and i'd load myself with them every time i'd go there...!! That's where my first love for brownies began....& the bhaiya there would even tempt me by asking shall i pour some hot chocolate sauce on this and i would never say no...!! "AJ" (Ajish my hubby) who has always been health conscious...would always say I've put on weight every single time he visited me from Dubai....& I'd say" Bhai Khate-peete ghar se hoon" so.. thoda tagdi tho lagoongi naah!!(for those who didn't follow that..in hindi means: well i belong to a well to do family who eats rich food and that's what is showing on me...!!(A rather lame or common excuse from those who are lazy enough not to exercise even for 15mins a day). Well all the laziness vanished out of me after my daughter was born...she is a complete disciplinarian to me every thing need to happen on ...

Let Them Eat Cup Cakes...Put The Carrots On Top now...;)

When it comes to getting your toddler to eat healthy food yet something that looks more like what all other children buy from the supermarket & eat...well "healthy carrot muffins", there couldn't be a better answer at least for the moment when i don't have too much time to cook , for kids who are naughtier & families who are naughtier.... what could be a better idea than this...?? The most important part was that each yummy cupcake contains about 1/2 a serving of veggies, without the frosting, plus healthy enough for your child to have them every day. It took off really cool & everybody ate the cupcakes as if they had never tasted something like this actually they had never tasted something like this...!! As the carrot cup cakes baked in my oven the sweet aroma of carrots filled the house, the great thing was that it took only about 20-25 mins to get them all done...hmmmm...smells heavenly...!! well try it, I'm sure you will have the same opinion...

Ragi (Finger Millets) Dosa (Pancakes)..;)

Ragi Dosa / Finger Millet Pancakes Racking our brains every single day what to do for breakfast, lunch, evening snack or even dinner for that matter..is one thing which is very irritating for all of us, unless we live in a joint family which is a very rare phenomenon these days ..:) where we can get lots of ideas from the other women of the house or worst come scenario even curse our stars together for not being able to think of something quickly...at least things done in a group feels very comforting at times...!! Anyways, i was going through one of those days where i had to look after what my daughter was up to every single minute, plus decide what can be todays breakfast choice, especially that which can be easily consumed by my toddler as well...browsing through my pantry for what can be today option i came across ragi flour sitting out there for some time...!! well i just had an idea.. that changed my day...;) Ragi dosa, doesn't take more than 10 mins and can be had...

Oatmeal Pancakes with strawberries & honey(Eggless).

Another healthy breakfast option recipe..;) often we think of how good, bad or ugly something might taste and are scared to try it or just brush even the thought aside saying oh...it's something that's not common in our culture so why try un necessarily..!! We are all familiar with both the terms Oatmeal & Pancakes...so i decided to try Oatmeal pancakes...a healthier option to the regular pancakes which are rich and quite heavy on the stomach. Having a very liberal hubby on such issues the poor man was my first guinea pig too for this one, and my experiment did quite well... and now my hubby needs pancakes as breakfast atleast 1 - 2times in a week...sometimes even packed for work....quite encouraging that was...;) The good thing is that it takes just a jiffy to get one pancake off the stove...! The best part being you can make both healthy and heavy in the tummy versions very easily...with not very difficult variations...!! Ingredients: Oatmeal(quic...

Healthy Sabudana Khichidi

Healthy Sabudana(Sago) Khichdi: Sabudana Khichdi is just another normal dish of every "North Indian" house hold, but Sabudana or Sago and Tapioca pearls are both used interchangeably in Indian Cooking. A great choice for a light yet filling meal on days of "Ekadasi or any Fast for that matter". I love the version which mum makes,Often me & dad would be found waiting to pounce on the khichidi (a richer version compared to what i normally make) forget the fast, we just love days of fasting or else we'd not end up having sabudana khichidi..Yummmmmyy!!!! Many people often confuse Sago with Tapioca pearls but they both belong to completely different sources..While sago comes from the "Sago Palm" the latter i.e. Tapioca pearls come from the tuber's of the Cassava Plant. Another thing most people don't know is how to differentiate between the both, unfortunately it's difficult to differentiate between both in the shop but at home it's qui...
