"No Fuss - Rice Cups" aka " Phare"

Steamed Rice Cups..;)
Yet another day.....yet another worry....the biggest of all worries being "What will me toddler eat without any fuss today...??" Yes the stress is on the word "FUSS"...terrifying almost every mother on the face of this planet...is one lil 4 letter word.."FUSS"...!!!

This was just another day where i was racking my brains on what to feed her...she'd been sick for the past few days...and as we all know it's terrible to even attempt to wander around a sick child....& if your talking about food...gawd help you....!!

Well this is one simple recipe which i've eaten in years at my place...easy, simple and yummy for kids...;)

Rice Cups or Phare Recipe:

What goes in:

  1. Rice Flour - 1 Cup.
  2. Jeera - 1 Tsp.
  3. Pepper - Coarsely ground - 1/2 Tsp.
  4. Fresh Grated Coconut - 1 or 2 Tbsp.
  5. Oil/Ghee - 1 Tsp.
  6. Salt - To Taste.
How to Put it in together:

  • Take about 1/2 Cup of water and bring to boil, now reduce the flame to Simmer and add Ghee/Oil(your choice), jeera, pepper, grated coconut, salt and finally Rice flour.
  • Stir gently with a wooden spatula so all the ingredients mix and come to a dough like density.
  • Switch off the flame and keep covered for about 5 mins not more(or else the dough might get fully cooked).
  • Now get all of the dough onto a large plate and knead well when warm(don't forget to grease your hands while doing this to avoid the dough sticking to your palms).
  • Shape them into 2" balls & make them into cup shaped.
  • Steam it and it's ready to eat.
  • Pour ghee into the steamed cup, taste's yummy when eaten hot...;)
well the procedure seems tedious when your read it but in actual it is done in a jiffy...;)

Eggless Choco-Nutty Cookies*Tried and Tested*

Eggless Choco - Nutty Cookies The Best Thing about them: I fall in love with these cookies each time i bake them, actually one can never stop raving enough even as the aroma waffles through the entire house as these cookies still bake in the oven, a heavenly combination of Chocolate and Nuts...Hmmnnn....!! The Worst Thing about them: I cant stop myself from eating them through the day, i don't wanna share them with one single soul..to top it..I'm drooling.. ahemm ...sorry about the gooey mess that went on the keyboard even as I'm typing this..!! Okay lets forget all about the mess and concentrate on the recipe of the cookies: Over the past year or two(i.e since i actually began baking out for just the sakes of passion of  baking) i realized that baking gives you such a high..even when i'm feeling down,low...or just feel any negativity creeping in me and i just resort to baking Believe me it just beats my stress away...and i'm all set and dolloped like chille...

+Busy-Day Chocolate Sponge Cake(Dairy Free & Low-Cal n Eggless)..;P Hi all i'm back and all set...Holidays really didn't go as planned....Since Hubby's granny passed away 2 days after we landed and the whole idea of a great holiday turned out on a very sad note, She was one sweetheart and great lady...i really really miss her, sooooo...unlike a great mom-in-law(which she never ever let me feel like she was a grand mom in law)...she was so much like my own nani-ma...sooo.... full of love and care and most importantly loved to feed all of us...just like all mom's n granny's. A grand era passed leaving only beautiful memories to be cherished behind. Anyways..,now that i'm back i was looking for an opportunity for the right time to make my post...and finally so i found one.... It's hubby's birthday today and me and my little daughter decided to bake a home made chocolate-coffee cake pretty late last night(psst: hubby was off for a late night m...

Post title: +Idly's for Breakfast..??? / Steamed (fermented rice) Rice Cakes..:) (step by step). Idly's for breakfast anyone..?? Normally when you say homemade idly's there s a certain  stigma attached to it,oh what's your proportion..?? considering the fact that not e veryone get their idly batter proport ion right the first few times.  But once you get the  of cottony soft cloud like fluffy idly's there's no looking back..!! It's actually damn easy you just got to remember 1:1/4 proportion of rice:urad dal respectively. While soakin it along with a fourth of a tsp of fenugreek and the secret of cottony, cloud like  softnes s comes from just a handful of beaten rice soaked along with the ingredients. Yes, beaten rice /poha adds to te softness magic or you can even use a handful of pre  -cooked white rice  Or left over white rice, the results are quite magical..!! Grind it with slightly lesser quantity of water and you...
